Hearing the Universe loud and clear this week – no matter how hard you try, you CAN’T control most things.
Take your pup to the vet time and again – and he’s still going to have allergies. Take care of your computer – and it’s still going to implode on a Monday. Take all the collagen powder, stretch, strength train, run distance – and you still might tear (?) a ligament in your knee during a game of kickball because you’re thirty-something.
You can’t control most things.
That includes stress, frustration and disappointment that comes up even when your problems are “small.” These are all valid feelings (my therapist’s reminder), and ones not worth bottling up.
Current practice: let go of the urge to control so much. And when things do feel out of control, really feel it. Relax into it. Accept help, insight and reassurance from people you love, no matter the topic. And get a lot of advice from your twin brother who happens to be an orthopedic surgery resident.
